ABSTRACT

Fasciola hepatica is a zoonotic liver trematode which infects cows, is mostly seen in sheeps as endemic, but rarely affects humans. Humans can become infected with fasciola metacercarias by ingesting contaminated uncooked fresh water vegetables (especially watercress). Diagnosis is typically made by serology or by detection of parasites in stool where there is clinical suspicion. In countries with an absence of data obtained by these methods or where it is not routinely used, like in Turkey, diagnosis might be difficult or made late in the course of the disease because clinical symptoms may mimic and resemble other diseases. This report discusses a case in which there was no specific sign but exhibited an unusual radiologically view and precise diagnose could only be made by surgery.
